Description
Wood engraving by Pauline Jacobsen (1934-2014)
Pauline studied at Ealing Technical College & School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art in London. Here she studied wood engraving and etching under John Buckland Wright. In 1954 she was elected as a member of the Society of Wood Engravers.
Pauline lived most of her life in Scotland and her work is held in the Aberdeen Art Gallery. Her wood engravings are known for her use of the natural grain in the wood which she used to beautiful effect to make her prints, which often have a spiritual theme.
