On Friday 1st June a small group of intrepid walkers, Al, Andy and Charlie, set off after a great night’s hospitality at Prinknash Abbey. By Day 3 in Monmouthshire the temperature was 25° plus and the terrain rather hilly so lots of water stops necessary. Sadly poor Rinnes is suffering a bit from arthritis so could not accompany the group this year, but a lovely black Labrador called Bailey offered to “step in” to keep the side up!…

Days 4 to 10 dropped down off the Brecon Beacon hills into Hay on Wye then on to Offa’s Dyke and Cannock Chase. Day 11 and we break the 200 mile barrier. Entering into beautiful Dovedale in Derbyshire we climb up into higher ground & the Peak District National Park. The sun is still shining but rain clouds are forming further west… The going is not always easy, especially for walkers in summer short sleeves and shorts!
