Following on from our epic pilgrimage from Burgundy to Pluscarden in 2017, a long-distance walk is being planned this year to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the monks arriving at Pluscarden Abbey in 1948 from Prinknash Abbey, Gloucestershire, to re-occupy Pluscarden for the first time since the reformation. The event will be a self-financing project, but with the support of both Abbeys with the aim of raising the profile of the South Range Project. It should be noted that this is primarily a long-distance walk and not a pilgrimage and will cover some 20 miles a day, 7 days a week for 6 weeks from 2nd June to 16th July, it is thus not for the fainthearted.
However, for the “fainter” hearted there will be a Pluscarden Pilgrimage over the weekend 25th 26th August. It will start in the Boat of Garten area and follow the Speyside Way to Grantown-on-Spey, join the Dava Way to Rafford and then on to Pluscarden. More details will follow as planning progresses, but it should be noted at the outset that accommodation will not be provided so pilgrims would join on a daily basis.
