A great day of walking and briefing. From their initial base at Abbaye Saint-Joseph de Clairval in Flavigny-sur-Ozerain the party have walked and spent time with authorities such as the local Gendarmerie. They are over the moon with everything and much further on with planning than expected, both on the ground viz. tracks, etc and with authorities and Catholic hierarchy. A very successful visit was carried out to Val-des-Choux, the pilgrimage start point, where the owner, Monsieur Michel Monot was briefed. Michael Monot was very welcoming and brought out the champagne! He has offered 4 days’ accommodation and food for the support group to set up prior to start of pilgrimage, an area for camping + access to loos and showers, a marquee, music with French horns, a BBQ the night before departure and importantly the foundation stone to take all the way to Pluscarden! Pluscarden will organise a grand mass and a piper!! Mr Monot also, most helpfully, suggested that best way to get to V-de-C is by Eurostar which almost stops at the door. More details will be published with the Pilgrimage instructions at the end of the year.
The pictures show Brother Michael dropping off Marty and Robbie to begin their day’s walking, Monsieur Monot at Val-des-Choux with Father Giles and Brother Michael, and the beautiful gardens at Val-des-Choux.
